“As District Attorney, I will pursue justice and fairness in every single case and do everything I can to make Columbia County safer for all of us who call it home.”

Assistant Attorney General and Solicitor General for NYS.

Experienced Trial/Appellate Lawyer and Public Defender.

Committed to Ensuring a Safer Columbia County as our next DA.

Experience.

Chris Liberati-Conant will bring broad experience to the District Attorney’s office. He’s served as an Assistant Attorney General for New York—where he successfully beat back a challenge to New York’s Reproductive Health Act—and, more recently, as Assistant Solicitor General for the state. He’s clerked for New York’s highest court, the Court of Appeals, and drafted hundreds of opinions for a NYS Supreme Court Justice. His years of work as a trial and appellate lawyer and public defender—and experience seeing the law from all sides—makes him uniquely qualified to serve as District Attorney.

Vision.

Chris Liberati-Conant will work hard to ensure there’s one standard of justice for all in Columbia County. And he’ll revamp the DA’s office to make it a model for fair and effective prosecution and improve public safety. He’s committed to ending political hires, increasing training, and creating specialized bureaus for an office that needs them. Those include a domestic violence and sex crimes bureau, a major and organized crime bureau, and a conviction integrity unit. And he believes the right response to the opioid and mental health crises is providing and encouraging treatment, not incarceration.

Commitment.

Chris’s commitment to Columbia County goes far beyond calling it home. His volunteer work includes service as a 2nd Lieutenant in the local Fire Department, a job that’s every bit as important to him as his legal work. He’s also been active for years in the New York State Bar Association, currently serving on the Ethics and Professional Discipline committees. He graduated from Rutgers University and St. John’s University School of Law. Chris lives in the Village of Chatham with his wife, Lauren, their son, Calvin, a second-grader at Mary E. Dardess Elementary, and their dog, Rosie.
